This project is aimed at constructing a three-floor building with a surface of 1500 square meter.
Funded by a contribution of the Waldensian Evangelical Church based on the Italian ‘eight per thousand’ system, the structure will be built by local companies and managed by the Kobanê women who ran the previous House of Women before it was torn down by Islamic State (IS).
The house will be an international center for exchanges of knowledge and good practices, but also a prevention center for women and children’s health and a center for women’s empowerment. The project is managed by Ponte Donna and has the following partners: Lucha y Siesta, Kurdish Institute of Brussels and UIKI Onlus.
The Women’s House of Kobanê is part of a larger project aimed at the reconstruction of Rojava after it was destroyed by IS and follows the democratic principles of the Social Pact of the Rojava Charter.
