Brussels, 9 September 2016 – Middle East Diplomatic (MED) – Around 11 300 Kurdish teachers have been suspended in Turkey for alleged ties with Kurdish movement – PKK. Now, Erdogan and his pm accuse over 20 000 Kurdish teachers and many thousands Kurds working in the public administration to be associated with PKK.
40 teachers were arrested yesterday in the Kurdish capital Amed (Diyarbakir) while protesting the decision of Erdogan This purge comes after the attempt of Erdogan and his pm to “clean” all institutions from opposition forces following the failed coup attempt in July 2016.
Many thousands Kurdish legal politicians have been already arrested since last year, including round 30 democratically elected Kurdish mayors. It is expected that the next target of Erdogan will be Kurdish elected members of the parliament.
Kurds have always been main target of Erdogan in the last years. But now Erdogan uses the “coup” against all the opposition, including alleged supporters of Fethullah Gulen, accused as the main organiser of the failed “coup” attempt.
The purge is used by Erdogan to get rid of his political opponents and to call for new parliamentary elections, in which he could eventually win the necessary majority of 400 seats to achieve full power for his main goals.
