During his recent trip through Başȗr (Iraqi Kurdistan), Gerhard J. Blankers, preacher at the Restored Reformed Church in the Netherlands, managed to meet Mala Bakhtyar and set up a fascinating conversation with this thinker and writer. Mala Bakhtyar is best known as a prominent politician for the party “Patriotic Union of Kurdistan”.
During this interview, Mala Bakhtyar provided an illuminating view of the Iraqi political situation and immediately linked it to an international regional and global geopolitical context. Dominant movements such as the Shia from Iran and the Sunni from Turkey undermine every attempt in Iraq to develop into a democracy.
Mala Bakhtyar also examines a number of Western countries. He criticizes the high level of acceptance from these countries. Due to geopolitics and geography, certain boundaries are crossed. Bakhtyar fears that this phenomenon could become a global issue.
