On Thursday, March 30, 2023, a delegation of young Yazidi women was received in the Chamber of Representatives. In particular by Federal MPs Koen Metsu and Georges Dallemagne because they are behind the voted resolution – which recognizes the heinous crimes committed by the Islamic State against the Yazidi population – as a genocide.
In 2014, the six young Yazidi women who were present in the Chamber, were usually still children. They were torn away from their families or saw how DAESH slaughtered their relatives mercilessly. They were beaten, tortured and sexually abused. That’s why it was very touching to see the courage they show today.
One of the girls put it this way: “The wound will heal, but the scar will remain forever”.
The reason for the visit is the film “Daughters of the sun” by the Kurdish director Rêber Dosky. This very captivating film is about these girls, but it is a true masterpiece. An absolute must. Here’s a preview: Movie trailer

On July 15, 2021, the Chamber passed a resolution recognizing and condemning the genocide of the Yazidis. The Yazidis are a Kurdish-speaking minority who suffer from the violence of the Islamic State terror group in Syria and Iraq.
