The first of a series of 6 information sessions (webinars) on the Autonomous Administration in North-East Syria (Rojava) took place on Thursday 25 March.
The focus of this session was mainly to provide a general picture of the unique model of society in Rojava. What does the “Rojava model” have to offer in terms of values and principles within a West-European context?
For this we gave the floor to Zozan Alloush. She is spokeswoman for the Syrian Democratic Council in Europe and focuses mainly on development and humanitarian affairs within that Council.

Rojava is unbelievably fascinating stuff. In any case, fascinating enough for the Kurdish Institute to devote itself fully to this theme this year. With the approval of the Flemish government, we will mainly be experimenting with the Rojava model in the second half of 2021. This project will continue under the name NETLAB.
NETLAB stands for “Network for Local Active Citizenship from Intercultural Cooperation”. Our ultimate goal is to set up a Flemish network for locally active citizenship, rooted in a cluster of shared values and inspired by the Rojava society model.
