11 members of the US House of Representatives, both Democrat and Republican, have addressed a letter to US President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken and called on them to not sell F-16 fighter jets to Turkey.
The members of the House express ‘a profound sense of concern’: “Following President Erdoğan’s September announcement that Turkey will purchase an additional tranche of Russian S-400 missile defense systems, we cannot afford to compromise our national security by sending U.S. manufactured aircraft to a treaty ally which continues to behave like an adversary.”
In essence, these MPs believe that Turkey is a totally unreliable NATO ally. For the Kurdish people, but especially for peace and stability in the Middle East, it is more than high time that this awareness grows among all NATO partners.
