Newroz pîroz be!
Op 21 maart viert de Koerdische gemeenschap Newroz (lett. ‘Nieuwjaar’), het jaarlijkse feest dat de start van de lente en de terugkeer van het licht inzet. Newroz wordt in de ganse regio gevierd, maar heeft een bijzondere betekenis voor de Koerden, die het verhaal van Newroz zien als de ontstaansgeschiedenis van hun volk. Hier leest u het oorspronkelijke verhaal. Helaas wordt de viering van dit voor de Koerden ontzettend belangrijke feest traditiegetrouw ook onderdrukt door verschillende staatsmogendheden. Moge deze dag licht en hoop brengen, voor de Koerden en voor alle andere volkeren en religieuze gemeenschappen die nog steeds moeten strijden tegen onderdrukking en oorlog.

Le 21 Mars la communauté kurde célèbre Newroz (lit. ‘Nouvel An’), la fête annuelle qui annonce l’arrivée du printemps et la renaissance. Cette fête est célébrée par de nombreux pays, mais a une signification particulière pour les kurdes, car au fil du temps elle est devenue le symbole de leur résistance. Ici vous-trouverez l’histoire. Chaque année, les divers pouvoirs d’Etat essaient d’empêcher cette célébration. On the 21st of March, the Kurdish community celebrates Newroz (litt. ‘New Year’), the annual feast that signifies the start of Spring and the return of light. Newroz is celebrated in the entire region, but has a special meaning for the Kurds, who see the story of Newroz as the origin story of their people. Here you can read the original story.
